Abstract:

Tato práce zkoumá příčiny zapojení Čínské lidové republiky do Korejské války, především události, které předcházely čínskému zapojení a eskalaci k vstupu Čínské lidové dobrovolnické armády do této války. Klíčové důvody k zapojení jsou čínské ekonomické zájmy, obavy z útoku USA na ČLR a zmaření čínských plánů na dobytí Tchaj-wanu. Co se týče metodologie, tato práce využívá kompilaci sekundární literatury a zjišťuje nejčastěji udávané důvody k čínskému zapojení. Tyto informace jsou porovnávány s primárními prameny. V rámci výzkumu byly klíčové důvody potvrzeny, ale také byly objeveny méně patrné důvody.

Abstract:

This thesis examines the causes of the involvement of the People’s Republic of China in the Korean War, particularly events which preceded the Chinese engagement and escalation to the point of the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army’s entry into the War. The key reasons for the involvement are identified as Chinese economic concerns, fear of a US attack on the PRC, and the Chinese plan for conquering Taiwan being foiled. Regarding methodology, the thesis utilizes compilation of secondary literature and pinpoints most frequently given reasons for Chinese intervention. This information is collated with primary sources. Based on the research, the key reasons were confirmed but more subtle causes were discovered as well.
