Health and Its Determinants with Emphasis on Disability in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je poskytnutí přehledu o faktorech, které ovlivňují zdraví člověka, objasnění jejich důležitosti a propojení s doporučeními WHO. Determinanty zdraví pro Českou republiku jsou analyzovány na základě šetření EHIS z roku 2014 dle věku, pohlaví a vzdělání. Práce rovněž podává přehled o ukazatelích, kterými lze měřit zdraví, a o vybraných šetřeních, která se zabývají zdravím. Stěžejní částí této bakalářské práce je disabilita analyzovaná a porovnávaná se zeměmi v EU z hlediska vybraných charakteristik, mezi které patří prevalence disability, bariéry sociální integrace, přístup ke vzdělání a trhu práce, chudoba a sociální vyloučení a materiální deprivace těchto osob. Z dat vyplývá, že lidé s disabilitou mají horší přístup ke vzdělání, na trh práce, častěji trpí chudobou či sociálním vyloučením a materiální deprivací. Česká republika patří mezi země s nejnižší prevalencí disability, jejíž hodnota (14 %) se nachází pod průměrem členských zemí EU (17, 4 %).

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to provide an overview of the factors that affect human health, clarify their importance, and link them with WHO recommendations. Health determinants for the Czech Republic are analysed from 2014 EHIS by age, gender, and education level. This thesis also presents an overview of indicators, which can be used to measure health, and certain surveys that deal with health. In the main part, disability is analysed and compared with EU member states in terms of different characteristics including the prevalence of disability, barriers to social integration, access to education and labour market, poverty and social exclusion, and material deprivation. The data show that people with disabilities have worse access to education and labour market, poverty and social exclusion rate is higher as well as material deprivation. The Czech Republic is one of the countries which have the lowest prevalence of disability (14 %) which is also under the EU mean (17. 4%).
