Complex of problems of stilistic macro-level and micro-level using the example of the book "Sommerhaus, später" by Judith Hermann

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the translation analysis of the book Sommerhaus, später (Summerhouse, later), which was written by Judith Hermann. The base of the diploma thesis is the theoretical part, which makes an introduction to the stylistics discipline, deals also with the macro- and micro-structure of a text, problems of translation and translational procedures. This theoretical knowledge was used for the practical part of the thesis. Several examples chosen from the German text were compared to their Czech translation, which already existed. Stylistic effects were evaluated and also some new translational suggestion of difficult phrases and correction of some inadequately equivalents were made. The author of the thesis tried to follow the rule, that the most important purpose of each translator should be the understandability of the target text and a high language and stylistics level.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá rozborem překladu knihy Sommerhaus, später (Letní dům, později), jejíž autorkou je Judith Hermann. Základem práce je teoretická část, která nastiňuje problematiku stylistiky obecně, dále se zabývá makro- a mikrostylistickými prostředky textu, problematikou překladu a překladatelských procedur. Tyto teoretické poznatky jsou plně využity v praktické části, neboť na základě nich byly vybrány jednotlivé příklady z německého originálu. Cílem překladatelského rozboru bylo porovnat německé části textu, resp. stylistické jevy s již existujícím českým překladem, vyhodnotit jejich adekvátnost a zamyslet se nad případnými dalšími vhodnými variantami. Součástí práce jsou tedy i nové návrhy překladu některých obtížných jevů a nápravy některých neadekvátně zvolených ekvivalentů. Snahou každého překladatele by měla být srozumitelnost cílového textu a vysoká jazyková i stylistická úroveň.
