English get-passives

Abstract:

Tato práce se zaměřuje na anglické pasívum se slovesem get. V části věnované teorii je popsáno pasívum se slovesem be a následuje popis pasíva se slovesem get. Současně tato práce poskytuje vysvětlení rozdílu mezi užitím těchto dvou typů pasivních konstrukcí. Část této práce se věnuje i rozlišení mezi slovesným a adjektivním druhem pasíva. Tato práce je rozdělena do dvou částí: první částí je teoretické pozadí pasíva, které popisuje prvky obou typů. Druhá část se věnuje analýze sta příkladů pasíva s get získaných z Araneum Anglicum korpusu. Analýza se zaměřuje na následující aspekty get: frekvence výskytu jednotlivých sloves v pasívu s get, sémantika těchto sloves, efekt pasíva s get na podmět, agentivita podmětu, výskyt by-agent v pasivních konstrukcích s get. Výsledky analýzy jsou poté shrnuty v závěru.

Abstract:

The present thesis studies the passive constructions with the verb get. The theoretical part of this work first describes the be-passive, and the description of the get-passive follows. This work also provides a clear distinction between these two types of passive constructions. A part of the theory also provides a distinction between verbal and adjectival passives. The work consists of two parts: the theoretical part which introduces the topic and describes the features of both the be-passive and get-passive and the analytical part which analyses one hundred examples excerpted from the Araneum Anglicum corpus. The analytical part focuses on the following aspects of the get-passive: the frequency of verbs occurring in the get-passive, the semantics of the verbs, the effect of the get-passive on the subject, agentivity of the subject, occurrence of the by-agent in get-passive constructions. The results collected from the analytical part are summarized in the conclusion.
