Traduction and linguistic analysis of a novel by Thierry Jonquet: Ils sont votre épouvante et vous êtes leur crainte

Abstract:

The Bachelor thesis offers in two parts the translation and the subsequent stylistic and lexical analysis of chosen segments from the latest detective-sociologic novel by Thierry Jonquet „Ils sont votre épouvante et vous êtes leur crainte“, in Czech titled „Oni vás děsí, je zas plní bázeň z vás“. This well-known author of detective stories fluently intertwines literary and informal, even slang French in various levels of stylization depending on the age and the social position of the character which, at the particular moment, narrates the story. In the Czech version of the translation it was necessary to choose an adequate and consistent setting between the literary and the common Czech, and to resolve the problem of slang exjunction connected to the suburban youth and the Czech socio-cultural context. The second part contains the analyses of the characteristic stylistic attributes of the nonliterary language in both versions, Czech as well as French, in all linguistic levels - phonic, lexical and syntactic. The attention is also paid to the analysis of the narrative techniques of the author, which are closely connected with already mentioned intertwining of literary and non-literary language.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce předkládá ve dvou částech překlad a následnou stylistickou a lexikální analýzu vybraných segmentů z posledního detektivně-sociologického románu Thierryho Jonqueta „Ils sont votre épouvante et vous êtes leur crainte“, v české verzi „Oni vás děsí, je zas plní bázeň z vás“. Tento známý francouzský autor detektivek zde plynule přechází mezi spisovnou a hovorovou až slangovou francouzštinou, a to v různých stylizačních rovinách v závislosti na věku a sociální příslušnosti postavy, která právě vypráví děj. V české verzi překladu bylo tedy nutné volit adekvátní a důsledné nasazení mezi spisovnou a obecnou češtinou a vyřešit problém neekvivalence slangu předměstské mládeže do českého sociokulturního kontextu. Druhá část práce analyzuje charakteristické stylizační rysy nespisovného jazyka díla v obou verzích, české i francouzské, a to ve všech jazykových rovinách - fonické, lexikální i syntaktické. Pozornost je také věnována rozboru naračního postupu autora, který úzce souvisí s již zmíněnými přechody mezi spisovností a nespisovností.
