The impact of innovation performance on the competitiveness of the Visegrad Group V4

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je zjistit dopad inovační výkonnosti zemí Visegrádské čtyřky (V4) na postavení jejich konkurenceschopnosti v celosvětovém žebříčku GCR. Hlavní metodou k dosažení tohoto cíle je analýza výkonnosti sledovaných zemí v oblastech úzce souvisejících s inovacemi a jejich vzájemné porovnání. Praktická část zkoumá vztah mezi celkovou konkurenceschopností zemí Visegrádské čtyřky a jejich úspěchem v oblasti inovací, což je provedeno na základě dat shromážděných a zpracovaných Světovým ekonomickým fórem. Pro zkoumání těchto souvislostí jsou nejprve analyzovány vývojové procesy jednotlivých zemí v období let 2012 až 2018 podle změny jejich postavení v pořadí konkurenceschopných ekonomik podle zprávy The Global Competitiveness Report. Na základě této analýzy jsou dále identifikovány slabé a silné stránky zemí V4 při formování inovační kapacity. Praktická část také zkoumá provázanost 12 oblastí konkurenceschopnosti, aby bylo možné posoudit, které z nich jsou pro zavádění inovačních změn nejdůležitější. Poté se práce orientuje zejména na vývoj sektoru vzdělávání a odborné přípravy, technologickou připravenost a inovační ekosystém.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to determine the impact of the innovation capability of the V4 countries on their competitiveness position in the GCR ranking. The main method for achieving this goal is to analyze the performance of the countries under study in areas closely related to innovation, and to compare them with each other. The practical part examines the relation between the overall competitiveness of the V4 countries and their success in innovation, which is done on the basis of data collected and processed by the World Economic Forum. To examine this relation, each country's development processes from 2012 to 2018 are first analyzed according to the change in their position in the ranking of competitive economies according to The Global Competitiveness Report. Based on this analysis, the weaknesses and strengths of the V4 countries in shaping their innovation capabilities are further identified. The practical part also looks at the interconnection of the 12 areas of competitiveness in order to assess which of them are the most important to bring about innovative change. The paper then focuses on the development of the education and training sector, technological readiness, and the innovation ecosystem.
