Cílem této práce je poskytnout informace o základních principech garbage collection a srovnat jednotlivé implementace collectorů v OpenJDK s nově vyvíjeným collectorem nazvaným Shenandoah. Výkon jednotlivých collectorů je poté měřen při běhu různých známých desktopových aplikací založených na platformě Java. The aim of this thesis is to provide information on garbage collection fundamentals and compare the garbage collector implementations currently used in OpenJDK with a newly developed collector named Shenandoah. The performance of the different collectors is measured while running various well-known Java based desktop applications.
