The idea of Euroarea and its practical implementation

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vznikem jednotné evropské měny a budováním hospodářské a měnové unie jako důležitého procesu evropské integrace, který začaly státy Evropské unie realizovat. Práce popisuje první pokusy evropských států o měnovou integraci v ES až po jednotlivé etapy zavádění společné evropské měny euro. Práce dále popisuje stanovení a plnění Maastrichtských konvergenčních kritérií, jako podmínky pro přijetí jednotné měny. Od 1. 1. 1999 se stalo euro jednotnou měnou členských zemí Evropské měnové unie a od 1.1.2002 mince a bankovky eura zcela nahradily mince a bankovky národních měn členů Evropské měnové unie a euro se stalo výhradní měnou ve státech účastnících se měnové unie. Práce v závěrečné části shrnuje výhody a nevýhody přijetí jednotné měny ze strany členských států.

Abstract:

The Bachelor thesis deals with the conception of single European currency and the establishment of Economic and Monetary Union as an important process of European integration which the European Union countries started to realize. The thesis describes the first attempts of the European states for the monetary integration up to the adoption of the single European currency Euro. Furthermore, the thesis deals with setting up and fulfillment of the Maastricht convergence criteria describing the conditions for adopting the single currency by a Member states. Since 1st January 1999 the euro has become the sole transaction currency of the European Monetary Union member countries and since 1st January 2002 the euro coins and banknotes have completely replaced the coins and notes of the national currencies of the European Monetary Union members. The final part of this work summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of adoption the single currency by the Member states.
