Anotácia:

Tato práce se zabývá hodnocením prostorové a časové variability teploty vzduchu v severovýchodní části Antarktického poloostrova. Využity byly zejména časové řady teploty vzduchu z odledněných částí i ledovců poloostrova Ulu v severní části ostrova Jamese Rosse v období 2005–2017. Práce se skládá ze čtyř přiložených vědeckých článků, které přinášejí nové poznatky a pohledy na faktory ovlivňující variabilitu teploty vzduchu v oblasti Antarktického poloostrova. Popisuje novou klasifikaci atmosférické cirkulace v této oblasti s využitím atmosférických reanalyzovaných dat. Vliv advekce vzduchových hmot na teplotu na poloostrově Ulu byl hodnocen na základě geostrofického větru, přízemního větru a typů atmosférické cirkulace. Dále bylo analyzováno působení topografických faktorů, jako například nadmořské výšky nebo typu aktivního povrchu, na prostorovou variabilitu teploty vzduchu. Zvláštní pozornost byla věnována inverzím teploty vzduchu a jejich prostorové a časové variabilitě. Faktory vedoucí k jejich vzniku a související atmosférické procesy byly zkoumány s využitím mezoměřítkových numerických modelů. Měření radiační bilance, toku turbulentního a latentního tepla a toku tepla do půdy bylo použito při výpočtu energetické bilance a hodnocení jejího vlivu na změny teploty vzduchu i půdy.

Abstract:

This thesis evaluates spatial and temporal air temperature variability in the north-eastern part of the Antarctic Peninsula region. Air temperature time series from both ice-free and glaciated areas of the Ulu Peninsula, northern James Ross Island were studied in the period 2005–2017. The thesis is based on four enclosed articles, describing new insights and information on factors influencing air temperature variability in the Antarctic Peninsula region. New synoptic pattern classification for this region was designed with the use of atmospheric reanalysis data. The influence of air mass advection on temperature on the James Ross Island was ascertained based on geostrophic wind, surface wind observations and the synoptic pattern classification. The effect of topographic factors, i.e. altitude and type of ground surface on spatial temperature variability was analysed. Special attention was given to air temperature inversions and their spatial and temporal variability. Aspects of formation of air temperature inversions and related atmospheric processes were studied with the use of mesoscale numerical model. The measurements of net radiation, sensible and latent heat fluxes, and the ground heat flux were used to study the surface energy budget and to assess their effect on air and ground temperature evolution.
