Developing creative skills in a startup enviroment through mentoring

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá rozvojem kreativních kompetencí skrze mentoring v startup prostředí. Cílem je zjistit, jakými cestami mentoři rozvíjí kreativitu svých mentee v začínající firmě. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a empirickou část. Teoretická část vymezuje kreativitu jako pojem a definuje její kritéria. V následující části jsou popsány pojmy mentoring, mentor a mentee. Dále práce definuje startup a jeho specifika. V neposlední řadě je v práci popsán rozvoj kreativity skrze mentoring v startup. Empirická část je zaměřena výzkumně. Nejdříve popisuje metodologický postup kvalitativního šetření skrze polostrukturované hloubkové rozhovory a následně interpretuje výsledky analýzy dat sesbíraných rozhovory. Výsledky práce popisují cesty, jakými mentoři rozvíjí kreativní schopnosti, postoje a dovednosti mentee.

Abstract:

This master thesis deals with how creative competences are developed by means of mentoring in the environment of start-up companies. The goal is to determine the ways through which mentors in start-ups cultivate creativity in their mentees. The thesis consists of a theoretical and an empirical section. In the theoretical part the term “creativity” and its criteria are defined. Subsequently the terms “mentoring”, “mentor” and “mentee” are explained. Further the expression “start-up” and its specifics are clarified. Last but not least this thesis describes the development of creativity in start-ups through mentoring. The empirical part focuses on research. First, the methodology of qualitative research through semi-structured in-depth interviewing is described. The information gathered through the interviews is then analyzed and interpreted. In the conclusion ways through which the mentors cultivate the creative skills, attitudes and abilities of their mentees are described.
