Analysis of public trials of Vlasta Burian between 1946-1947 as demonstrated in the press influenced by KSČ

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá mediální reprezentací dvou veřejných procesů s českým komediálním hercem Vlastou Burianem v letech 1946-1947 na stránkách tisku spjatého s KSČ. Práce využívá metodu diskursivní analýzy navrženou Jamesem Paulem Geem. Hlavním cílem práce je definování diskursivních modelů a popsání mediálního obrazu a způsobů, jakým byl obraz tvořen. K tomuto účelu slouží operační módy ideologie popsané J. B. Thompsonem. Zkoumanými tiskovinami jsou čtyři deníky (Rudé právo, Práce, Mladá fronta, Zemědělské noviny) a jeden týdeník (Kulturní politika). Práce je rozdělena do pěti částí. Historický exkurs popisuje souzení Vlasty Buriana v kontextu poválečných retribucí a postoj KSČ k retribuci. Teoretická část definuje koncepty, na kterých se práce zakládá. V metodologické části je popsán výzkumný vzorek, metoda a výzkumné otázky. Analytická část představuje aplikaci diskursivní analýzy na vybrané texty, v závěru shrnuty poznatky z analýzy a definované diskursivní modely.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the media representation of two public trials of Czech comedian actor Vlasta Burian between 1946-1947, as demonstrated in the press influenced by KSČ. The thesis uses discourse analysis described by J. P. Gee. The main objectives of this thesis is to define discourse models, describe media representation and detect methods creating this representation. This thesis utilizes ideological modes of operation defined by J. B. Thompson. Daily newspapers examined were “Rudé právo”, “Práce”, “Mladá fronta” and “Zemědělské noviny” as well as “Kulturní politika” which is weekly newspaper. The thesis is divided into five parts. Trials of Vlasta Burian in context of post war retributive justice and attitude of KSČ to retributive justice are developed in the chapter “historical context”. The concepts the thesis is based on are developed in “theoretical part”. Research sample, methods and research questions are described in “methodological part”. Application of discourse analysis on selected articles is evaluated in “analytical part”. Analysis and discourse models are defined in final part.
