Sheep and goat husbandry in the Czech Republic - History, Prezent State and Environmental Aspects

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na problematiku chovu ovcí a koz v České republice. Cí-lem práce je poskytnou ucelený přehled vývoje chovu ovcí a koz na území České republiky. Dále popsat jeho současný stav a využití těchto hospodářských zvířat v alternativních způsobech zemědělství, ochraně přírody a výživě člověka. V první části práce je popsána historie chovu ovcí a koz na našem území od poloviny 15. století do současnosti. Právě v 15. století začalo na naše území pronikat salašnic-tví, což mělo silný vliv nejen na vývoj chovu ovcí, ale i utváření naší kulturní kraji-ny. V druhé části práce jsou popsána plemena ovcí a koz chovaná na našem území v minulosti a dnes. Vzhledem k velkému počtu plemen těchto malých pře-žvýkavců chovaných v ČR, Kuchtík (2007) uvádí až 31 plemen, jsou v práci uve-deny charakteristiky vždy dvou nejčastěji zastoupených plemen z každé produkční skupiny. Poslední část práce rozebírá význam chovu ovcí a koz pro současnou společnost a to z pohledu kulturního, enivronmentálního a částečně i potravinář-ského.

Abstract:

This diploma work is focused on sheep and goat breeding in the Czech Re-public. The aim of this study was to provide a comprehensive survey of sheep and goat farming in the Czech Republic, and further, to describe the current state and use of these farm animals in regards to alternative farming methods, protection of nature, and human nutrition. The first part of this study outlines the history of sheep and goat breeding in the Czech Republic from the second half of the 15th century. At this time alpine farming began to penetrate the region. It had a strong influence on sheep and goat breeding, and also in shaping the cultural landscape. In the second part of this study descriptions are given of the breeds of sheep and goats bred in the Czech Republic over this time period. Given the large number of ruminants being bred in the Czech Republic, up to 31 different breeds (Kuchtík 2007), this study focuses on the characteristics of the two most frequently bred from each production group. The last part of the study analyses the importance for contemporary society of sheep and goat breeding from a cultural, and also patially from a nutritional, point of view.
