The Czech Republic and euro - current development and perspectives

Abstract:

Má práce si klade za cíl zrekapitulovat nejdůležitější momenty konstituování Evropské měnové unie a zavádění jednotné měny euro. Práce shrnuje dostupné informace o vývoji měnové politiky Evropské unie a jejího vlivu na názory politických elit o přijetí eura v České republice. V závěru se pokusím zhodnotit možnosti a perspektivy přijetí eura v České republice. Na základě referenda uskutečněného v České republice v roce 2003 se většina občanů vyjádřila pro vstup do Evropské unie, což nás zavazuje vstoupit do měnové unie, nicméně doba vstupu nebyla stanovena. Otázkou proto není, zda má Česká republika vstoupit do eurozóny, ale stanovit optimální okamžik pro tento krok. Pro vládu je důležité dosáhnout u všech vrstev obyvatelstva přesvědčení, že přechod z národní na jednotnou měnovou politiku Evropské měnové unie je výhodnější, než používání české měny a aplikování národní měnové politiky.

Abstract:

The main aim of my work is to summarize and characterize all the important events and factors of forming the Economic and Monetary Union and implementing the new single currency – Euro. My thesis resumes information about the development monetary policy of the European Union and its influence on Czech politicians opinion concerning acceptance of Euro in the Czech Republic. In the end I have tried to evaluate possibilities and prospectives of adoption of Euro in the Czech Republic Pursuant to the referendum in the Czech Republic in the year 2003 people expressed an agreement with the entry to the European Union, which pledges as to enter Economic and Monetary Union, nevertheless the time of euro adoption was not determined. Question is not, whether the Czech Republic should join the Euroarea, but to determine the optimal moment of the Euro adoption. The important part for the government is to convince all Czech citizens that using of the single European Currency will be better for them than using Czech currency.
