Non-pharmacological methods of pain relief during labor

Abstract:

Úvod: Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na téma nefarmakologické metody tišení bolesti během porodu. K metodám tlumícím bolest při porodu neodmyslitelně patří nefarmakologické metody. Jak už ze samostatného názvu vyplývá, jedná se o metody porodnické analgezie bez použití léčiv, založené na působení přírodních látek nebo na podkladě fyzikálním a psychologickém (Pařízek 2012). Mezi nefarmakologické metody řadíme jednotlivé techniky, které ženám pomáhají při porodu zvládat bolest a uvolnit se (Procházka 2020). Cíl: Hlavním cílem práce bylo zjistit, jaké nefarmakologické metody tišení bolesti v průběhu porodu jsou ženami nejčastěji využívány. Metodika: Pro sběr dat byl zvolen kvantitativní průzkum ve formě online dotazníkového šetření. Dotazník byl určen ženám, které měly možnost v průběhu porodu (ať už v I., II. nebo III. době porodní) využít techniky nefarmakologických metod tišení bolesti. Průzkumnou kohortu tak tvořily ženy, které rodily vaginálně, ale také ty, u kterých byl v průběhu porod ukončen akutním císařským řezem - a to z toho důvodu, že i tyto ženy měly možnost využít nefarmakologických metod tišení bolesti v I. i II. době porodní. Tento dotazník byl sestaven jako polostrukturovaný a obsahoval 22 otázek, z nichž bylo 17 otázek otevřených a 5 otázek uzavřených. Stanovení a následné použití průzkumných otázek v dotazníkovém šetření proběhlo po konzultaci s vedoucí bakalářské práce. Oficiální sběr dat byl zahájen 18. 11. 2023. Vzhledem k velké účasti a zájmu o jeho vyplnění byl sběr ukončen již 24. 11. 2023. Výsledky: Celkem bylo získáno 477 odpovědí, které jsou sumarizovány prostřednictvím programu Microsoft Excel a prezentovány v podobě grafů a tabulek. Dotazníkovým šetřením bylo zjištěno, že nejpoužívanější nefarmakologickou metodou u porodu, dle respondentek, byla psychická podpora blízké osoby. Hydroterapie byla druhou nejvyužívanější nefarmakologickou metodou, kterou respondentky využily u svého porodu. Závěr: Z průzkumného šetření vyplynulo, že využívání nefarmakologických metod u porodu je velmi účinné a potvrdilo se, že nefarmakologické metody pomáhají tišit či snižovat porodní bolest. Ženy je u porodu rády používají a vyhledávají.

Abstract:

Introduction: The bachelor thesis is focused on non-pharmacological methods of pain relief during labour. Non-pharmacological methods inherently belong to the methods of pain control during childbirth. As the name implies, these are methods of obstetric analgesia without the use of drugs, based on the action of natural substances or on the basis of physical and psychological (Pařízek, 2012). Non-pharmacological methods include particular techniques that help women manage pain and relax during labour (Procházka, 2020). Aim: The main aim of the study was to find out which non-pharmacological methods of pain relief during labour are most frequently used by women. Methodology: For data collection, a quantitative survey in the form of an online questionnaire survey was chosen. The questionnaire was designed for women who had the opportunity to use non-pharmacological pain management techniques during labour (either in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd stage of labour). Thus, the survey cohort consisted of women who gave birth vaginally, but also those whose labour was terminated by acute caesarean section - and this was because these women also had the opportunity to use non-pharmacological methods of pain relief, e.g. in the 1st and 2nd period of labour. This questionnaire was designed as a semi-structured questionnaire and contained 22 questions, of which 17 were open-ended and 5 were closed-ended. The determination and subsequent use of the survey questions in the questionnaire survey was done in consultation with the thesis supervisor. The official data collection started on November 18, 2023. Due to the high participation and interest in completing it, the collection was completed on November 24, 2023. Results: A total of 477 responses were received, which are summarised using Microsoft Excel and presented in the form of graphs and tables. The questionnaire survey revealed that the most used non-pharmacological method in childbirth according to the respondents was psychological support from a close person. Hydrotherapy was the second most used non-pharmacological method used by the respondents for their delivery. Conclusion: The survey showed that the use of non-pharmacological methods in labour is very effective and confirmed that non-pharmacological methods help to relieve or reduce labour pain. Women like to use them in labour and seek them out.
