Autistic features, empathy and systemizing of parents of children with autistic spectrum disorders

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá rozdíly v autistických rysech, empatii a systemizaci mezi rodiči dětí s poruchou autistického spektra (dále jen PAS) a rodiči neurotypických dětí. PAS jsou neurovývojové poruchy, které jsou charakterizovány narušením komunikace, sociální interakce a opakujícími se vzorci chování. Podobné, ale mírnější deficity v těchto oblastech jsou také často identifikovány u prvostupňových příbuzných osob s PAS. Soubor těchto mírnějších autismu podobných rysů je označován jako širší autistický fenotyp. K měření uvedených charakteristik byl použit Kvocient autistického spektra (AQ), Kvocient empatie (EQ) a Kvocient systemizace (SQ). Výzkumný soubor byl tvořen 112 rodiči dětí s PAS a 102 rodiči neurotypických dětí.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with differences in autistic features, empathy and systematization among parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and parents of neurotypical children. ASD are neurodevelopmental disorders characterized by communication and social interaction distortions and repetitive patterns of behaviour. A similar but milder deficits are also frequently identified with first-degree relatives of people with ASD. The set of these milder characteristics, similar to autism, are referred to as broader autistic phenotype. It is assumed that the main autistic traits can be explained by high systematisation and low empathy. To measure these characteristics, Autistic Spectrum Quotient (AQ), Empathy Quotient (EQ), and Quotient Systematization (SQ) were used. The research group was formed of 112 parents of children with PAS and 102 parents of neurotypical children.
