Práca sa zaoberá trestnoprávnymi aspektmi možného zneužitia výpočtovej techniky. Pre toto zneužitie je charakteristické, že výpočtová technika je jeho nástrojom alebo predmetom. Hovoríme o špecifickom druhu trestnej činnosti – počítačovej kriminalite. Počítačová kriminalita zahŕňa akýkoľvek trestný čin týkajúci sa počítačov a sietí.
