RECQ4 helikáza patří do rodiny RecQ helikáz, které jsou považovány za multifunkční “hlídače” genomu tím, že se podílí na udržování genomové stability a potlačování neoplastické transformace. Mutace v genu RECQ4 jsou spojeny s Rothmund-Thomsonovým syndromem (RTS). RECQ4 helicase belongs to RecQ helicase family that are considered as multifunctional genome caretakers, because they maintain genome stability and suppress neoplastic transformation. Mutations in RECQ4 gene are associated with Rothmund-Thomson syndrome (RTS).
