Collegial approach against paternalism in social work

Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce je partnerský přístup versus paternalismus v sociální práci. Cílem bakalářské práce je ilustrovat uvedené přístupy, které sociální pracovník/pracovnice využívá při práci s klienty v pobytové sociální službě a zjistit jakou roli v jeho/jejím rozhodování hrají schopnosti/limity klienta/klientky. Teoretická část práce nabízí základní informace z oblasti direktivních a nedirektivních přístupů, mezi které partnerský a paternalistický přístup patří. Teoretická část je rovněž zaměřena na popis vybraných cílových skupin a sociálních služeb v kontextu aplikační části práce. Úkolem aplikační části práce je na základě teoretických poznatků a vybraných kazuistik ilustrovat partnerský a paternalistický přístup, které sociální pracovník/pracovnice využívá při práci s klienty v pobytové sociální službě a zjistit jakou roli v jeho/jejím rozhodování hrají schopnosti/limity klienta/klientky.

Abstract:

The subject of this bachelor thesis is the conflict between partnership approach and paternalism in social work. The purpose of the thesis is to illustrate how the mentioned approaches are being used by a social worker in interaction with clients in residential social care and to determine what role in their decision-making play the capabilities and limitations of the client. The theoretical part of the thesis shows the basic informations in the area of directive and non-directive approaches that the partnership and paternalistic approach are part of. The theoretical part is also focused on the description of selected target groups and social services in the context of the analytical part of the thesis. The goal of the analytical part is, based on the theoritical knowledge and selected case studies, to illustrate the partnership and paternalistic approaches that are being used by a social worker in interaction with clients in residential social care and to determine what role in their decision-making play the capabilities and limitations of the client.
