Personas: inspiration of Ingmar Bergman's films in the production of the Theatre on the Balustrade

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce zkoumá inscenaci Persony uvedenou v roce 2018 Divadlem Na zábradlí v režii Jana Mikuláška. Vzhledem ke skutečnosti, že se jedná o divadelní adaptaci filmového díla, autor nejprve stručně nastiňuje souvislosti tohoto fenoménu, jehož počátek a rozvoj v českém prostředí datujeme zhruba do 90. let 20. století. Dále autor přibližuje, v rámci historického kontextu, příchod nového vedení a nové poetiky do Divadla Na zábradlí v roce 2013 a režisérský přístup Jana Mikuláška v souvislosti s předchozí tvorbou. Značnou část práce představuje samotná analýza inscenace Persony, jenž je jakousi koláží inspirovanou a motivovanou několika filmy významného švédského režiséra Ingmara Bergmana. V poslední kapitole autor stručně, a kvůli omezeným zdrojům spíše na základě hypotézy, přibližuje autorsko-právní problémy, které v souvislosti s uvedením inscenace nastaly, přičemž sleduje následnou proměnou inscenace. Práce ukazuje, že i přes odlišný typ komunikačního média, s nímž souvisí i rozdílný typ diváckého vnímání a čtení, je možné v dané inscenaci hledat souvislosti a inspiraci s proslulou, a mnohdy povědomě známou, filmovou předlohou.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis examines the production Personas stated in 2018 by the Theatre on the Balustrade and directed by Jan Mikulášek. Given the fact that this is a theatrical adaptation of a film work, the author first briefly outlines the context of this phenomenon, the beginning and development of which in the Czech environment dates back to roughly the 1990s. Furthermore, the author brings, within the historical context, the arrival of new leadership and new poetics at the Theatre on the Balustrade in 2013, and the directorial approach of Jan Mikulášek in connection with previous productions. Much of the bachelor thesis is the very analysis of the specific production, which is a kind of collage inspired and motivated by several films by the eminent Swedish director Ingmar Bergman. In the last chapter, the author concisely, and due to limited resources rather on the basis of a hypothesis, zooms in on the copyright-legal problems that have arisen in connection with the stating of the production, following the subsequent transformation of the production. The work shows that, despite a different type of communication medium, with which a differing type of audience perception and reading are also linked, it is possible to look for a context and inspiration with a famous and often familiar film original in a given production.
