Identity and some aspects of family background in women with anorexia nervosa

Abstract:

Předkládaná magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá identitou žen s mentální anorexií. Naším cílem bylo zjistit, zda mentální anorektičky v pásmu mladé dospělosti mají status dosažené identity; zda existuje rozdíl mezi ženami s MA a kontrolní skupinou ve stylu převažující identity, popř. jaký styl identity u MA převažuje. Zaměřili jsme se také na rodinné prostředí anorektiček a jejich subjektivní vnímání vybraných aspektů rodinného prostředí – soudržnost, expresivnost a nezávislost. Převažující styl identity a subjektivní vnímání vybraných aspektů rodinného prostředí žen s mentální anorexií jsme srovnávali s kontrolní skupinou. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 27 žen s mentální anorexií ve věku 20-28 let a kontrolní skupinou bez patologických jídelních návyků. Při výběru kontrolní skupiny jsme použili párový výběr, tzn. zachovali jsme počet, věk a vzdělání respondentek. Dostupná data získána pomocí Inventáře stylů identity (ISI-3, Berzonsky) a Škály rodinného prostředí (ŠRP, Hargašová, Kollárik) byla zpracována pomocí chí-kvadrátu, t-testu pro nezávislý výběr a korelační analýzou. Výsledky prokázaly, že ženy s mentální anorexií tendují k normativnímu stylu identity (dle Berzonskeho normativní styl při sebedefinování) a ve svých rodinách subjektivně vnímají menší expresivnost a nezávislost než ženy bez této diagnózy.

Abstract:

The presented master thesis focuses on the identity of women with anorexia nervosa. Our goal was to find out whether women with anorexia nervosa have the status of reached identity; whether there is a difference between women with anorexia nervosa and a control group in prevailing style of identity and which style of identity is predominating by women of anorexia nervosa. We also focused on family background of women of anorexia nervosa and their subjective perception of some aspects in their families – cohesion, expressivity and independence. We compared women with anorexia nervosa and the control group, their prevailing style of identity, their subjective perception of some aspects of family background. Experimental group consists of 27 women with anorexia nervosa aged 20-28 and the control group which has not any eating disorder. We used couple selection during the choice of the control group – the same number, age and education of the respondents. Reachable facts were obtained by the Identity style inventory (ISI-3) and by the Scale of family background. They were elaborated by chi-kvadrat, t-test and correlated analysis. Results proved that women with anorexia nervosa have tendencies to normative style of identity and that there is lower expressivity and independence in their families.
