Abstract:

Ve své bakalářské práci se zabývám novými slovy v angličtině, a to z lingvistického hlediska. Cílem této práce je zjistit, které neologismy se objevují nejčastěji, které jsou již lexikalizované, jaký druh slovotvorby se při tvorbě těchto nových slov používá nejčastěji a ve kterém stylu se neologismy nejčastěji objevují - jestli v mluvené angličtině, v beletrii, časopisech, novinách či v akademické angličtině. Moje analýza využívá dat z korpusu současné americké angličtiny a Googlu, z knihy Kerry Maxwell "From Al Desko to Zorbing – New Words for the 21st Century" a ze dvou jednojazyčných slovníků. U každého neologismu určuji jeho slovní druh a druh slovotvorby. U každé formy slova udávám frekvenci výskytu v korpusu a v Googlu. Jako příklady uvádím ilustrativní věty s citací zdroje.

Abstract:

In my thesis I am examining new words in English from the linguistics point of view. The aim of the thesis is to find out which new words are the most frequent, which ones are lexicalized, which type of word formation is used most in creating neologisms and in which style of English neologisms appear most often - if in spoken English, fiction, magazines, newspapers or academic English. My analysis is based on data from the Corpus of Contemporary American English and from Google, from a book by Kerry Maxwell, From Al Desko to Zorbing – New Words for the 21st Century, and from two monolingual dictionaries. I am determining the word class and the type of word-formation of each neologism. I state the frequencies of particular word forms in Google and in the corpus and I give example to each word form I found – I use illustrative sentences with citations of source.
