Analysis of wages and salaries in the capital city of Prague

Abstract:

Mzdy a platy představují důležité ekonomické pojmy, jejichž výše charakterizuje životní úroveň obyvatelstva na daném území. Tyto pojmy se týkají každého, kdo se někdy rozhodl nebo teprve rozhodne vstoupit do zaměstnaneckého poměru, což je převážná většina populace. Z těchto důvodů se bakalářská práce věnuje analýze mezd a platů v hlavním městě Praze. Mzdy a platy jsou v práci zkoumány pomocí ukazatelů hrubé měsíční mzdy a platu. Vývoj mediánů těchto ukazatelů je zhodnocen prostřednictvím grafů, základních charakteristik časových řad, indexů a vhodných trendových funkcí. Vývoj mezd bude zkoumán v letech 2001 až 2013 a platů v letech 2004 až 2013. Dále jsou pro rok 2013 uvedené ukazatele členěny do skupin podle socioekonomických znaků zaměstnanců. Mezi sebou jsou porovnány mediány těchto skupin a je i zkoumána mzdová a platová diferenciace. Analyzovaná data jsou získána z Informačního systému o průměrném výdělku. Práce by tedy měla čtenáři poskytnout informace o mzdové a platové situaci v hlavním městě. Skládá se ze čtyř kapitol, přičemž první dvě jsou teoretické a druhé dvě se zabývají samotnou analýzou.

Abstract:

Wages and salaries represent important economic terms whose amount characterizes the standard of living of the population in a given territory. These terms are related to everyone who had ever decided or is going to enter into an employment relationship, which is the vast majority of population. For these reasons my bachelor thesis deals with analysis of wages and salaries in the capital city of Prague. Wages and salaries are explored in this thesis by using the indicators of gross monthly wages and salaries. The development of medians of these indicators is evaluated through graphs, basic characteristics of time series, indices and suitable trend function. The development of wages will be examined from 2001 to 2013 and salaries from 2004 to 2013. Further for 2013 the indicators are divided into groups according to socio-economic characteristics of employees. Medians of these groups are compared with each other. Furthermore, wage and salary differentiation is examined. The analysed data are obtained from the Average Earnings Information System. This thesis should provide the information about wage and salary situation in the capital city for the reader. It consists of four chapters, where the first two are theoretical and the other two are analytical parts.
