V polovině roku 2008 se objevila celosvětová krize automobilového průmyslu. Kořeny jejího vzniku byly v právě probíhající krizi finanční, ve stoupajících cenách ropy na světových trzích z důvodu zvyšující se poptávky a v nadvýrobě automobilových společností.
