Analysis of the impact of monetary policy jurisdiction on price stability

Abstract:

This work deals with the issue of the impact of jurisdiction of monetary policy on price stability. Selected macroeconomic results of the Czech and Slovak Republics since their establishment as independent republics in 1993 are compared using examples from the NBS, whose jurisdiction is subordinated to the ECB, and the ČNB, which has its own jurisdiction. Using an unconventional method of information collection in the form of expert interviews with former top representatives of the central banks of the Slovak and Czech Republics, the study investigates how monetary policy tools are utilized in both forms of jurisdiction and how they influence the development of the economies of these countries.

Abstract:

Táto práca sa zaoberá otázkou vplyvu jurisdikcie menovej politiky na cenovú stabilitu. Na príkladoch NBS, ktorej jurisdikcia je podriadená ECB a ČNB, ktorá má vlastnú jurisdikciu, sa porovnávajú vybrané makroekonomické výsledky ČR a SR od ich vzniku ako samostatných republík v roku 1993. Pomocou netradičnej metódy zberu informácií v podobe expertných rozhovorov s bývalými vrcholnými predstaviteľmi centrálnych bánk SR a ČR sa zisťuje, ako sú nástroje menovej politiky využívané v oboch formách jurisdikcie a ako to ovplyvňuje vývoj ekonomík týchto krajín.
