The fates of the Jewish community in Mladoboleslavsko during the 30s and 40s of the 20th century

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá osudy židovské komunity na Mladoboleslavsku v období 30. a 40. let 20. století na základě vzpomínek pamětníků. Hlavním cílem práce je sledování konkrétních osudů skrze výpovědi pamětníků, kteří byli s Mladou Boleslaví a jejím okolím spjati. Nejprve práce poskytne přehled dějin židovské komunity na Mladoboleslavsku až do druhé světové války a jak se jejich společenské postavení změnilo příchodem nacistického režimu. Práce dále seznámí s funkcí mladoboleslavského hradu a Mladou Boleslaví celkově, jako místem pro shromažďování Židů a v této souvislosti uvede výpovědi pamětníků. Následně se zaměří na konkrétní výpovědi pamětníků a jejich osudy. Poslední kapitola obeznámí, jakými způsoby se na židovskou komunitu na Mladoboleslavsku vzpomíná po druhé světové válce až do nynější doby

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the fate of the Jewish community in Mladá Boleslav and surroundings in the 30s and 40s of the 20th century, based on the memories of the witnesses. The main aim of this bachelor thesis is monitoring specific fates through testimonies of witnesses who were connected with Mladá Boleslav and surroundings. First, I will focus on the history of the Jewish community in Mladoboleslavsko until the Second World War and how their position changed with the advent of the Nazi regime. The thesis will further acquaint with the function of the castle in Mlada Boleslav, as a place for the gathering of Jews, and in this connection will give testimony of the witnesses. The last chapter describes the ways in which the Jewish community in Mladá Boleslav recalls after the Second World War to the present time.
