Risk attittudes in different socio-demographic groups

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá vztahem mezi postojem k riziku a volbou stát se hasičem. Experimentem byl zjištěn postoj k riziku mezi hasiči nováčky, zkušenými hasiči a studenty. Pomocí modelů vysvětlujících postoj k riziku kontrolovaný o zkušenost (zda je respondent hasič nováček, zkušený hasič nebo student), věk a další proměnné, bylo zjištěno, že se jedná o selekci. Lidé s nižší averzí k riziku se stávají hasiči. Modely naznačují i adaptaci, nováčci jsou více rizikově averzní než zkušení hasiči, rozdíl však není statisticky významný.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the relation between risk attitude and choice to become a fireman. Using an experiment, the risk attitude of firemen entrants, experienced firemen and students was detected. Using models explaining the risk attitude controlled for experience (whether a respondent is a fireman entrant, an experienced fireman or a student), age and other variables, it has been found that this represents a self-selection. People with lower risk aversion tend to be a fireman. Models indicate also an adaptation, fireman entrants are more risk averse than experienced firemen, but the difference is not statistically significant.
