Význam dálkových běžců v antickém Řecku

The Role of Long Distance Runners in Ancient Greece
Abstract:
Tato práce se zaměřuje na vytrvalostní běžce a běžce-posly a jejich roli v době antického Řecka. Cílem je analyzovat jejich náboženský, vojenský a sociální status v tamní společnosti a vyvést některé z nich z anonymity. Je nastíněno kulturní či historické pozadí zaznamenaných výkonů běžců a význam pro tehdejší dobu.
Abstract:
This thesis focuses on long distance runners and runner-messengers and their role in ancient Greece. The aim is to analyze their religious, military and social status in the local society and to take some of them out of anonymity as much significance is put onto cultural or historical background of the recorded performances of particular runners in the given era only.
