Abstract:

Disertační práce s názvem František Musil ? Janáčkův brněnský současník, pedagog, varhaník a skladatel je věnována významné osobnosti brněnského hudebního života na přelomu 19. a 20. století. Práce se zabývá hlavními okruhy Musilovy pedagogické, umělecké a skladatelské činnosti. Všímá si hudebně kulturního ovzduší tehdejšího Brna i Moravy, specifické situace v oblasti hudebního školství a chrámové i koncertní praxe. Orientační průřez Musilovy tvorby se soustřeďuje především na světskou, duchovní a liturgickou oblast, ve které je jeho působení těsně spjato s prosazováním myšlenek ceciliánské hudební reformy, proto jedna z kapitol zkoumá historii, vývoj a význam tohoto hnutí v Čechách a na Moravě. Neméně důležitá se jeví i kancionálová tvorba, která úzce souvisí s jeho varhanickou praxí a vypovídá o praktickém užití ceciliánských zásad. Musil byl také obětavým a vyhledávaným pedagogem a svoji učitelskou činností přispěl k rozvoji brněnské hudební pedagogiky a varhanní interpretace. Předposlední kapitola se proto zabývá jeho působením v tomto oboru, řeší systém výuky na varhanických školách v Praze a Brně a představuje osobnosti brněnské varhanní hudby. V závěru práce jsou zhodnoceny dosažené cíle a význam Musilova pedagogického a uměleckého projevu v kontextu tehdejšího hudebního dění.

Abstract:

The thesis called Frantisek Musil ? Janacek?s Brno Contemporary, Pedagogue, Organist and Composer is devoted to a prominent figure of musical life in Brno at the turn of the 19th and 20th century. The work deals with the main ranges of Musil?s pedagogical, artistic and composing activity. It observes the musical and cultural environment in Brno and Moravia at that time, the specific situation in the field of musical education and church and concert praxis. The indicative cross-section of Musil?s production concentrates mainly on the secular, spiritual and liturgical area in which his activity is closely connected with the promotion of the Cecilian Reform idea. Therefore one of the chapters examines the history, development and meaning of this movement in Bohemia and Moravia. The Kancional production also appears equally important. It is closely connected with his organ praxis and it testifies about the practical use of the cecilian principles. Musil was a self-sacrificing and sought-after pedagogue as well. He also contributed to the development of musical pedagogy and organ interpretation in Brno by his teaching activity. Therefore the penultimate chapter deals with his action in this field and solves the system of teaching at the organ schools in Brno and Prague. It also introduces the personalities of organ music from Brno. In conclusion the achieved goals are evaluated, as well as the importance of Musil?s pedagogical and artistic expression in the context of music events at that time.
