Floods in the drainage area of the river Opava

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na výskyt a analýzu povodňových událostí v povodí Opavy. Teoretická část práce podává ucelené informace o fyzickogeografických charakteristikách povodí, podrobněji jsou popsány hydrologické a klimatické charakteristiky zvolené oblasti. Práce dále obsahuje výčet nejvýznamnějších povodňových událostí od 15. století až do současnosti. Povodně v roce 1997 a 2010 jsou analyzovány detailněji z hlediska meteorologických příčin a hydrologických následků. Ze získaných poznatků je vypracováno srovnání těchto dvou záplavových událostí. Dále diplomová práce uvádí realizovaná i plánovaná protipovodňová opatření v úseku 37,2 ? 0,0 ř. km na řece Opavě. Praktická část je založena na analýzách záplavových území při povodních v letech 1997 a 2010. V programu ArcGis jsou vypracovány mapy, ve kterých jsou zaznačená zaplavená území při povodních 1997 podle Povodí Odry s.p. a podle autorky, která při tvorbě záplavových území vycházela z leteckých fotografií, výpovědí povodněmi postižených občanů a vlastních pozorování. Záplavová území květnových povodní 2010 jsou vyhodnocovány na základě vlastního terénního výzkumu a pozorování.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on the flood events occurrence in the drainage area of the river Opava and their analyses. The theoretical part gives complex information about physical-geographical characteristics of the area. Hydrological and climatic characteristics are described more in detail. The thesis contains a list of the most important flood events in the time horizon from 15th Century till present. Floods of July 1997 and May 2010 are analyzed more in detail. The information about floods is focused on meteorological causes and hydrological results. A comparison of these two flood events is done according to the received knowledge. Thesis informs about planned and realized flood protection in the section from 37,2 ? 0,0 r. km (river kilometres) on the river Opava. Practical part of the thesis is based on the analyses of the floodplains that appeared during floods in July 1997 and May 2010. Maps of floodplains of 1997 and 2010 are done in ArcGIS map editor. In the maps there are floodplains made by Povodí Odry s.p. and floodplains made by thesis? author. The author has made the floodplain layers of 1997 and 2010 according to her experience and survey, aerial photos and witness statements.
