The Role of the Strategic Planning in an Enterprise

Abstract:

The main objective of the thesis is to formulate an appropriate business strategy for an IT company, operating in the Slovak Republic and developing software products for health care providers. The thesis also proposes steps for the implementation of the strategy. To fulfill the stated objectives, the thesis consists of two parts. The theoretical one analyses several concepts of the strategic management. Given the analyzed company, the M-C model is chosen as a suitable concept. However, it is supplemented by some elements from the BIBS concept. The application part is initialized by the strategic analysis (external, internal and SWOT) that is the basis for the formulation of the appropriate business strategy for the company. The proposed strategy relies mainly on strengthening of innovations, increasing the efficiency of the processes within the company, and improving company’s promotion. One of the key elements of the strategy is also the proposal of its implementation, including controlling.

Abstract:

Hlavným cieľom tejto práce je navrhnúť stratégiu pre IT firmu, ktorá pôsobí na Slovensku a zaoberá sa vývojom softwarových produktov pre poskytovateľov zdravotnej starostlivosti a ich realizáciou na trhu. Ďalej sa práca zaoberá navrhnutím krokov implementácie pre zvolenú stratégiu. Pre naplnenie týchto cieľov je práca rozdelená do dvoch častí. Teoretická časť skúma niekoľko konceptov strategického riadenia. S ohľadom na zvolenú firmu je vybratý koncept M-C model, doplnený o prvky analýzy z modelu BIBS. Praktická časť začína strategickou analýzou (externá, interná a SWOT), ktorá je základom pre formuláciu vhodnej stratégie firmy. Navrhnuté strategické ciele sú prevažne založené na posilnení úlohy inovácií, zefektívnení firemných procesov a zvýšenej propagácii. Dôležitou súčasťou stratégie je aj návrh jej implementačných krokov vrátane stanovenia controllingových nástrojov.
