Oral hygiene in pregnant and breast-feeding women

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje problematice ústní hygieny u těhotných a kojících žen. Práce se dělí na část teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část je rozdělena do 7 kapitol, které se dále člení na podkapitoly a oddíly. Teoretická část se podrobně zabývá změnami v dutině ústní a celkovými tělesnými změnami u těhotné ženy. Dále je uvedena problematika ústní hygieny, možné následky při špatné hygieně i běžné komplikace v průběhu těhotenství v dutině ústní a jejich prevence a profylaxe. V teoretické části je také popsán vliv výživy jako součást prevence zubního kazu. Také je zahrnut doporučený postup ošetření dentální hygienistkou v jednotlivých trimestrech, a jaká doporučení ohledně správné péče o chrup by se měla ženám sdělit. Součástí práce je také popsána důležitost správné orální péče také kojících žen, narozených dětí a možné následky. Teoretických poznatků bylo využito v praktické části, která byla vypracována na základě průzkumu formou dotazníku, který byl určen těhotným ženám a ženám s dětmi. Průzkum se zabývá informovaností těhotných žen a matek s dětmi o problematice dutiny ústní během těhotenství a po narození dítěte. Součástí výzkumu je také informovanost matek ohledně rizik spojených s orálním zdravím matky i dítěte, a zda byly ženy informovány ohledně orální hygieny dětí. Poznatky lze dále využít pro sestavení různých preventivních programů pro těhotné a kojící ženy a vytvoření letáků do čekáren nejen zubních lékařů a dentálních hygienistek, ale také pediatrů či gynekologů.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is about oral hygiene for pregnant and lactating women. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is divided into seven chapters which are further divided into subsections and sections. The theoretical part deals in detail with the changes in the oral cavity and the overall physical changes in a pregnant woman. The following is an issue of oral hygiene and possible consequences after poor hygiene and common complications during pregnancy in the oral cavity and their prevention and prophylaxis. The theoretical part also describes the importance of nutrition as part of prevention of dental caries. It is also included recommended course of treatment at a dental hygienist in each trimester, and what recommendations proper oral care should be given to the women. The work also discussed the importance of oral care also lactating women, children and the possible consequences. Theoretical knowledge was used in the practical part, which has been prepared on the basis of a survey by questionnaire, which was destined for pregnant women and women with children. The survey covers awareness of pregnant women and mothers with children about the problems of the oral cavity during pregnancy and after childbirth. Also part of the research is that if mothers are informed about the risks associated with oral health of mother and child, and whether women were informed about the oral hygiene of children. The findings could be used to build various preventive programs for pregnant and lactating women and creating flyers in the waiting rooms of dentists, dental hygienists, pediatricians and gynecologists to increase efficiency.
