Climate Change and Human Health Burden: A Multilevel Study in Bangladesh

Abstract:

Tato práce zkoumá lidské zdravotní zátěž vyplývající ze změny klimatu, konkrétně z cyklonu Aila v Bangladéši. Lidé byli obviněni v pestrý úhlů, jako, hospodářská, sociální a tak dále, ale vliv na zdraví byl katastrofální. V této studii výzkumné otázky zahrnují znát podstatu zdravotní zátěže, akce, následku vřesoviště zátěže a socio-demografické a strukturální spojení se zdravotním zátěž. Navíc, aby prozkoumala vztahy sociálně-ekonomických proměnných se zdravotním zátěže, devět konkrétní hypotézy jsou vypracovány. Tyto hypotézy se skládají z proměnných, jako je například, vzdělání s onemocněním, a na návštěvě lékaře; činnosti po Aila a zranění; profesní hierarchie s denní potravinách, které berou, a s využitím mytí materiálů; pohlaví se zraněními, a traumatický stres; věk se zraněními; a zdravotní rizika na domácnosti s místy chovu hospodářských zvířat a domácích zvířat. I používat data z průzkumu obětí Aila odpovědět na mé výzkumné otázky. Standardizovaný tváří v tvář rozhovory s 100 náhodně vybraných respondentů byly provedeny. Respondentů uvedlo, o sobě, stejně jako o jejich domácnosti popsat krátkodobé a dlouhodobý dopad na Aila. Většinou, jednorozměrné a dvojrozměrné tabulky a obrázky se používají pro prezentaci dat. Pozoruhodné je, že 97 procent respondentů zajištěno, aby pokles onemocnění bezprostřední po Aila a tato tendence mírně klesnout na 84 procent, ačkoli to bylo podstatné, v dlouhodobém horizontu po Aila. Lidé se také zapojit se zraněními, když hrál jejich adaptační strategie po Aila, jako je nahrazovat, úklid, takže blízkost s materiály a další. Na druhou stranu, nepřímo, škoda domácnost, kanalizace, voda, stav hygiena, očkování, jídlo, a chov hospodářských zvířat a zvířat jsou spojeny s zdraví lidí zátěž v dlouhodobém horizontu po Aila. Navíc, vyšší vzdělaný clusteru ve srovnání s nižší vzdělávací shluky jsou spojeny s méně kategoriemi onemocnění. Činnosti po Aila jsou nalezeny více být spojen s zkušeností zranění. White Collar profesionálové ve srovnání s jinými profesních hierarchií vzal třikrát jídlo za den, a pro mytí účel použity moderní materiály, jako je mýdlo. Ženy trpěl více vysokou úroveň traumatický stres v porovnání s muži během cyklonu. A konečně, následky lidského zdraví zátěže bylo zjištěno jako překážka zvýšit až hospodářskou aktivitu a sociální vztahy i po cyklonu Aila v dlouhodobém horizontu.

Abstract:

This thesis investigates the human health burden resulting from climate change, specifically of the cyclone Aila in Bangladesh. People were charged in multifarious angles like, economic, social and so on, but the impact on health was catastrophic. In this study, the research questions include to know the nature of health burden, actions, aftermath of heath burden and socio-demographic and structural link with health burden. Moreover, to explore the relations of socioeconomic variables with health burden, nine specific hypotheses are drawn. These hypotheses consist of variables, such as, education with diseases, and physician visiting; activities after Aila and injuries; occupational hierarchies with daily food taking, and using washing materials; gender with injuries, and traumatic stress; age with injuries; and health risks in household with places of farming livestock and domestic animals. I use data from a survey of victims of Aila to answer my research questions. Standardized face to face interviews with 100 randomly chosen respondents were conducted. Respondents reported about themselves as well as about their households to describe the short and long-term impact of Aila. Mostly, univariate and bivariate tables and figures are used to present data. Remarkably, 97 percent respondents ensured to fall in disease immediate after Aila and this tendency slightly decrease to 84 percent, though it was substantial, in long-term after Aila. People also get involved with injuries when they played their adaptation strategies after Aila, such as, replacing, cleaning, making proximity with materials and others. On the other hand, indirectly, household damage, sanitation, water, hygiene status, vaccination, food, and farming of livestock and animals are linked to human health burden in the long-term after Aila. Furthermore, higher educated cluster compared to lower educational clusters are linked with fewer categories of diseases. Activities after Aila are found more to be connected with the experience of injuries. White collar professionals compared to other occupational hierarchies took three times meal in a day, and for washing purpose used modern materials like soap. Women suffered more high level of traumatic stress compared to men during cyclone. Finally, the aftermath of human health burden were found as obstacle to boost up economic involvement and social relationships as well after cyclone Aila in the long-term.
