The Process of Organizational Learning in a Specific Business Environment – A Case Study

Abstract:

Práce pojednává o procesu organizačního učení v konkrétním firemním prostředí. Teoretická část vymezuje koncept organizačního učení, vysvětluje různé přístupy k předmětu zájmu a popisuje úrovně, ve kterých učení organizace probíhá. Součástí jsou teoretické koncepty, které se organizačnímu učení věnují. Následně je teoretický text věnován řízení znalostí, jejich definici a možnostem způsobů jejich řízení. Empirická část práce obsahuje metodologický postup provedeného výzkumného šetření, které bylo provedeno formou kvalitativního výzkumu za použití metod analýzy dokumentů a polostrukturovaného rozhovoru s následným otevřeným kódováním. Získaná data ukázala, že zkoumaná firma disponuje podpůrným prostředím k rozvoji organizačního učení, ze kterého vznikají specifické stimuly učení organizace. Podařilo se detekovat procesy učení na individuální, skupinové i organizační úrovni. Koncept učení organizace má ve firmě silnou podporu ze strany vedení a kroky řízení znalostí jsou uzpůsobeny k jeho plnému rozvoji. Byly však rozpoznány bariéry, které učení organizace narušují či ho mohou zabránit.

Abstract:

This work deals with the process of organizational learning in a specific business environment. The work includes a theoretical framework including the definitions and concepts which are engaged in organizational learning. This includes the possible different approaches to the subject and describes the various levels of interest in which the organization is learning. A section is also dedicated to relevant knowledge management theories. The empirical research section includes a description of the methodological procedure with which the research was carried out. It was conducted through the use of qualitative research methods for document analysis and semi-structured interviews followed by open coding. The data obtained showed that the investigated company has a supportive environment for the development of organizational learning. The learning itself is triggered by specific stimuli which are made possible by the supportive environment. The research concluded that learning processes can be detected at the individual, group and organizational levels. The concept of organizational learning in the examined company is recognized and has strong support from management and knowledge management steps have been adopted. However, certain barriers that may hinder organizational learning have been identified.
