The purpose of this diploma thesis is to study the semantic evolution of modal verbs in the Early New High German prose “Ackermann aus Böhmen” by Johannes von Tepl. The work consists of two parts. Tématem této diplomové práce je sémantický vývoj modálních sloves v raně novohornoněmeckém prozaickém díle „Ackermann aus Böhmen“ Johanna z Teplé. Práce se skládá ze dvou částí. Teoretická část se zabývá konceptem modality jako termínu, jeho charakteristikami a interpretací, stejně jako vývojem modálních sloves, s důrazem na raně novohornoněmecký jazyk.
