The Middle East and the activities of the intelligence services of the Slovak Republic

Abstract:

Master’s Dissertation focused on the activity of intelligence services in the fight against terrorism. The territory of the Middle East is an exceptional area not only as the cradle of advanced civilization, but also as a territory with a high density of terrorist organizations. Since the Slovak Republic is present in several countries of the Middle East, or on its edge, security developments directly affect it. Terrorism as an international threat can directly threaten the interests of the Slovak Republic and the sovereignty of its territory. It is therefore important to pay attention to the given region and to eliminate security risks as much as possible at the level of international cooperation. Intelligence is the most important tool in the fight against terrorism because it is on the front line. Intelligence services acquire and gather critical information to avert potential threats and attacks. Intelligence activities in the Slovak Republic are carried out by the Slovak Information Service and Military Intelligence. The intelligence services obtain information and warn the relevant state authorities about the impending danger, which subsequently adopt adequate solutions. The main goal of the diploma thesis is to offer effective solutions fight against terrorism at the level of intelligence services.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca je zameraná na činnosť spravodajských služieb v boji proti terorizmu. Územie Blízkeho východu je výnimočnou oblasťou nielen ako kolíska vyspelej civilizácie, ale i územie, na ktorom je vysoká hustota teroristických organizácií. Keďže Slovenská republika je prítomná v niekoľkých krajinách oblasti Blízkeho východu, resp. na jej okraji, bezpečnostný vývoj sa jej bezprostredne dotýka. Terorizmus ako medzinárodná hrozba môže priamo ohroziť záujmy Slovenskej republiky a suverenitu jeho územia. Je preto dôležité venovať pozornosť danému regiónu a na úrovni medzinárodnej spolupráce v maximálnej možnej miere eliminovať bezpečnostné riziká. Spravodajská činnosť je najdôležitejším prostriedkom boja proti terorizmu, pretože je v prvej línii. Spravodajské služby získavajú a zhromažďujú dôležité informácie na odvrátenie potenciálnych hrozieb a útokov. Spravodajskú činnosť v Slovenskej republike vykonáva Slovenská informačná služba a Vojenské spravodajstvo. Spravodajské služby získavajú informácie a upozorňujú na hroziace nebezpečenstvo príslušné štátne orgány, ktoré následne prijímajú adekvátne riešenia. Hlavným cieľom diplomovej práce je ponúknuť efektívne riešenia účinného boja proti terorizmu na úrovni spravodajských služieb.
