Tempietto Longobardo in Cividale del Friuli

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se soustředí na Tempietto Longobardo, výjimečný raně středověký monument ležící v severoitalském městě Cividale del Friuli. Předmětem práce je nejenom stavba samotná, ale i její působivé dekorace, zejména dochované figurální i anikonické štuky a původní malby. Na Tempietto je nahlíženo z několika perspektiv: práce se snaží monument topograficky upevnit a zmapovat rovněž jeho dlouhý život. V souladu s těmito částmi je následně provedena hypotetická rekonstrukce původní podoby vnitřní dekorace. Klíčové jsou však zejména části pracující s datací Tempietta, jeho ikonografií, ikonologií a funkcí. Ve snaze pochopit původní dekorace je významná pozornost věnována rovněž elementu přirozeného světla ve smyslu jeho praktické role i symbolických konotací.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on Tempietto Longobardo, a unique early medieval monument located in the Northern Italian city of Cividale del Friuli. The subject of the thesis is not only the building itself, but also its impressive decorations, especially the surviving figural and aniconic stuccoes, and original murals. Tempietto is viewed from several perspectives: the work attempts to fix the monument within the topographical context and to map its long life. In accordance with these parts, a hypothetical reconstruction of the original form of the interior decoration is made. However, the parts dealing with the dating of Tempietto, its iconography and iconology, and its function, are particularly crucial. In an attempt to understand the original decorations, significant attention is also paid to the element of natural light in terms of its practical role and symbolic connotations.
