The position of the Western Balkan countries to the independence of Kosovo

Abstract:

Záměrem práce je rozbor postojů jednotlivých států bývalé Jugoslávie a Albánie k osamostatnění Kosova. Jejich stanovisko je analyzováno ze dvou vzájemně souvisejících perspektiv. Za prvé v závislosti na vztahu jednotlivých zemí ke členství v Evropské unii a vlivu politiky USA a zadruhé v závislosti na dopadech jejich vlastní národnostní problematiky. Oba aspekty dotváří celkový pohled na perspektivu existence samostatného Kosova z hlediska jeho nejbližších sousedů a za použití analyticko-deskriptivní metody dovolují srovnat chování jednotlivých států ke Kosovu v současnosti i blízké budoucnosti.

Abstract:

The ambition of this work is to investigate the attitudes of individual Former Yugoslavia states and Albania to the Kosovo independence. Their position is analyzed from two mutually linked perspectives. Firstly, it is compared to relations to European Union’s membership and US policy influence and secondly, relative to impact of their own national minority’s problems. Together they form complete perspective of opinion of the nearest states behaviour to independent Kosovo’s existence depending on their foreign affairs aims and authority of EU and USA nowadays and in the close future.
