The relation between family and client of in-residential elderly social services

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje kontaktu klientů pobytových služeb pro seniory s rodinou a přináší pohled na toto téma samotných klientů i pracovníků v takovém zařízení. Cílem práce je najít odpověď na hlavní výzkumnou otázku: Jaký postoj zaujímají klienti a pracovníci pobytových služeb pro seniory k navazování a udržování kontaktu mezi klientem a jeho rodinou? V teoretické části jsou coby základní pojmy práce vymezeny termíny senioři, pobytové služby pro seniory, rodina a postoj. Metodologická část přibližuje kvalitativní výzkum a techniku polostrukturovaných rozhovorů, které byly zvoleny jako strategie a technika sběru dat pro výzkum této práce. V další části jsou prezentována a analyzována data získaná rozhovory s klienty a pracovníky domova pro seniory a jsou zodpovězeny dílčí výzkumné otázky, které pomohou najít odpověď na hlavní výzkumnou otázku. Kontakt klienta s rodinou považují klienti i pracovníci pobytových služeb pro seniory za důležitý prvek, který může pozitivně ovlivnit ostatní oblasti života seniora v zařízení. U pracovníků domova se však objevují dilemata ohledně jejich role, kterou by měli v komunikaci klientů s rodinou zastávat.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on the relation between clients of in-residential elderly social services and their families. This topic is viewed from the perspective of clients and workers in these institutions. The aim of the thesis is to find an answer to the question: What is the attitude of clients and workers in in-residential elderly social services to the making and keeping contact between client and his family? The theoretical part defines the elementary terms of this thesis – seniors, in-residential elderly social services, family and attitude. The methodological part describes the qualitative research strategy and the semi-structured interviews, which were selected for the research. Analytical part presents and analyses data resulting from the interviews with clients and workers in in-residential social services and give answer to partial questions, which will help answer the main question. Clients and workers in in-residential social services consider the contact between client and his family as an important element, which could positively affect other areas of senior’s life in those institutions. However, there are some dilemmas for workers in social services about their role in the communication between clients and their families.
