Experiences of Children's Home Caregivers with Stress and Their Coping Strategies

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou stresu u vychovatelů v dětských domovech a jejich strategiemi zvládání stresu. Cílem práce je popsat jaké stresové situace prožívají vychovatelé v dětském domově a které strategie využívají vychovatelé k jejich zvládání. Práce vychází z teoretických konceptů stresu, zvládání stresu a zkoumá jejich aplikaci v konkrétním pracovním prostředí dětského domova. Metodologický rámec zahrnuje kvalitativní výzkum formou rozhovorů s vychovateli a analýzu relevantní literatury. Výsledky vypovídají, že vychovatelé v dětských domovech čelí různým stresovým situacím spojeným s péčí o děti a náročným pracovním prostředím. Zároveň se ukazuje, že vychovatelé využívají různé strategie pro zvládání stresu, jako je podpora kolegů, osobní sebereflexe, a péče o vlastní duševní a fyzické zdraví. Výsledky této práce mohou přispět k lepšímu porozumění stresových faktorů v pracovním prostředí dětských domovů a k vývoji intervencí pro zlepšení podmínek práce vychovatelů a péče o děti v těchto institucích.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the issue of stress among educators in children's homes and their stress management strategies. The aim of the work is to describe what kind of stressful situations educators in children's homes experience and which strategies educators use to manage them. The work is based on the theoretical concepts of stress and stress management and examines their application in the specific working environment of a children's home. The methodological framework includes qualitative research in the form of interviews with educators and analysis of relevant literature. The results indicate that educators in children's homes face various stressful situations associated with caring for children and a demanding work environment. At the same time, it turns out that educators use different strategies for coping with stress, such as supporting colleagues, personal self-reflection, and taking care of their own mental and physical health. The results of this work can contribute to a better understanding of stress factors in the working environment of children's homes and to the development of interventions to improve the working conditions of educators and the care of children in these institutions.
