Design and development of an educational platform for diabetics

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce řeší design a tvorbu vzdělávací platformy pro diabetiky, která je naučí pracovat v prostředí internetu s informacemi týkajících se jejich zdraví. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a designově praktickou. Text se skládá z 7 kapitol a přílohy, jež obsahuje scénáře k rozhovorům, informovaný souhlas, a především vytvořený obsah pro vzdělávací platformu. Práce je uvedena kapitolou řešící gramotnost, informační gramotnost a zdravotní gramotnost a je doplněná o studie řešící právě tuto problematiku. Na ni navazuje kapitola o diabetu a další část uvádí do designu služeb. Dále zde nalezneme příklady studií na téma learning designu a zmapování současných informačních zdrojů pro diabetiky. Praktická část se už zaměřuje na samotný design vzdělávací platformy. Popisuje definování designové výzvy, průběh a vyhodnocení rozhovorů s edukačními sestrami i s diabetiky. V závěru se práce věnuje tvorbě vzdělávací platformy, která ve výsledku bude nabídnuta diabetickým organizacím, facebookovým skupinám diabetiků i participantům.

Abstract:

The Master's thesis focuses on a design and development of an educational platform for diabetics, which will teach them how to work with information about their health on the Internet. It's divided into a theoretical and a practical part, which also involves the process of designing. The text consists of seven chapters and attachements that contain an interview scenario, informed consent and the content created for the educational platform. As an introduction, the paper first deals with literacy, information literacy and health literacy, while studies addressing this issue are also added. It is followed by a chapter about diabetes and the next part introduces readers to the service design. Additionally, there are also examples of studies focused on learning design and mapping of current information sources for diabetics. The practical part focuses on the design of the educational platform. It describes the definition of the design challenge, the course and evaluation of the interviews with educational nurses and diabetics. In the end, the work deals with the creation of an educational platform, which is offered to diabetic organizations, diabetes communities on Facebook and participants.
