Women's self-presentation on Instagram on the example of selected plus size models

Abstract:

Ve své práci se zabývám vztahem člověka k vlastnímu tělu, popisuji rozdíly ve vnímání těla mezi muži a ženami, a také jak se toto vnímání podílí na budování vlastní identity. Rovněž přibližuji společenské normy na fyzickou krásu a reprodukci těchto norem skrze média masové komunikace. V praktické části analyzuji instagramové účty vybraných plus size modelek s cílem zjistit, zda tyto modelky zaujímají kladný vztah k vlastnímu tělu a propagují princip body positivity.

Abstract:

This work aims to describe human's relation to own body and to describe differences within men's and women's pereception of own body. Also how this perception conributes to building own identiy. Next this work focuses on socially constructed norms of physical beauty and on reproduction of these norms through the mass media. In the practical part of this work I am analysing profiles of selecteed plus size models on Instagram while trying to find out if these models have a positive relation to own bodies and promote body positivity.
