Young adults' career identity in relation to college

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá zkoumáním kariérní identity mladých dospělých studujících na Vysoké škole ekonomické v Praze. Hlavním cílem práce je zjistit zkušenost mladých dospělých studujících na VŠE s budováním jejich kariérní identity a jaký vliv na ně mělo v tomto ohledu studium. Dílčími cíli práce je zjistit podobu jejich dosavadní kariérní zkušenosti, zjistit faktory ovlivňující výběr kariéry, popsat výzvy budování kariéry a zjistit faktory studia na vysoké školy nápomocné při budování kariéry. Výzkumná část práce je založená na polostrukturovaných hloubkových rozhovorech se sedmi studenty VŠE a získaná data byla zpracována metodou interpretativní fenomenologické analýzy. Výstupem diplomové práce jsou výsledky provedeného kvalitativního výzkumu, potvrzení, vyvrácení nebo doplnění teoretického základu a doporučení návrhů pro možnost budoucích výzkumných aktivit v oblasti kariérní identity studentů vysokých škol.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis examines the career identity of young adults studying at the Prague University of Economics and Business. The main goal of the thesis is to find out the experience of young adults studying at the Prague University of Economics and Business with development of their career identity and what influence their studies had on them in this respect. The sub-objectives of the work are to find out the nature of their career experience so far, to find out the factors influencing the career choice, to describe the challenges of building a career and to find out the factors of university studies that are useful in development of a career path. The research part of the thesis is based on semi-structured in-depth interviews with seven students and the data obtained was processed using the method of interpretative phenomenological analysis. The output of the diploma thesis is the results of the conducted qualitative research, confirmation, refutation or addition of the theoretical basis and proposals of future research activities in the field of career identity of university students.
