Euthanasia in terms of quality and meaning of life

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem eutanazie z hlediska kvality a smyslu života. Teoretická část práce vychází ze studia odborné literatury, internetových zdrojů a periodik, které tuto problematiku obsahují. Popisuje historický vývoj, předkládá argumenty pro a proti eutanazii, předkládá situaci v České republice ohledně legalizace. Součástí práce je také alternativa k eutanazii paliativní péče. Souhrn pohledů na kvalitu, smysluplnost, životní hodnoty a lidskou důstojnost nemocných a umírajících. Primárním cílem práce je zjištění postojů a názorů veřejnosti k této problematice. Sekundárním cílem je snaha na-vrhnou možná řešení pomocí metod sociální pedagogiky.

Abstract:

This Bachelor´s thesis deals with the subject of euthanasia through the perspective on quality and meaning of life. The theoretical part uses academic literature, internet sour-ces as well as news prints discussing this subject. It describes the historical development as well as arguments for and against euthanasia. Further it informs about the situation on its legalization in the Czech Republic. Part of this work is also dedicated to palliative care, which is an alternative to euthanasia. Furthermore it sums the general views on the quality, meaning, life values and human dignity of people who are seriously ill or dying. The pri-mary goal of this thesis is to discover the public views and opinions on this subject. The secondary goal is an effort to offer possible solutions by means of social pedagogy.
