Corporate financial distress prediction by means of methods of financial analysis

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá predikcí finanční tísně podniku prostřednictvím metod finanční analýzy. Cílem je aplikovat vybrané metody finanční analýzy na příkladu dvou českých textilních společností a zhodnotit jejich predikční schopnosti. Obě společnosti mají mnoho společného, ale každá z nich se nachází v rozdílné finanční situaci. Tento fakt usnadňuje vyhodnocení predikčních schopností jednotlivých metod a poskytuje podklady pro srovnání. První část je věnována teoretickým východiskům metod finanční analýzy. Další část popisuje jejich praktické využití a kriticky hodnotí jejich predikční schopnosti. Shrnutí všech dosažených výsledků je k nalezení na konci práce.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the corporate financial distress prediction by means of methods of financial analysis. The goal of the thesis is to apply chosen methods of financial analysis to the sample of two Czech textile-processing companies and to evaluate their predictive abilities. Both companies have a lot in common, but each of them is in a completely different financial situation. This fact facilitates the evaluation of the predictive value of particular methods and offers a background for their comparison. The first part of the thesis is dedicated to the theoretical basis of the methods. The next part describes their application in practice and adds a critical judgement with regard to the predictive value. The summary of all the acquired results is to be found at the end of the thesis.
