Determination of 2,2',5,5'-tetrachlorobiphenyl (Congener 52) in organic colorants

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je zaměřena na stanovení obsahu 2,2',5,5'-tetrachlorbifenylu v organických kolorantech pomocí vysokoúčinné kapalinové chromatografii se spektrofotometrickou detekcí a plynové chromatografie spojené s vysokorozlišovací hmotnostní spektrometrií. V teoretické části jsou základní informace o společnosti Synthesia, a.s. a organických kolorantech. Zmíněné jsou syntézy konkrétních kolorantů, jako je Pigment Red 2, Pigment Red 166 a Pigment Red 214 s příslušnými meziprodukty a syntéza barviva Acid Black 210 (Korostanová čerň AN). Dále je pozornost věnovaná polychlorovaným bifenylům, jejich charakteristickým vlastnostem, jejich vzniku během syntézy, legislativě regulující jejich obsah ve výrobcích a možnostem stanovením jejich obsahu dle normované i nenormované metody. Na závěr teoretické části je stručně popsaná použitá instrumentace vysokoúčinné kapalinové a plynové chromatografie. Experimentální část je zaměřena na stanovení obsahu polychlorovaného bifenylu 2,2',5,5'-tetrachlorbifenylu (kongener 52) ve vybraných červených pigmentech a černém barvivu za pomocí HPLC s UV/VIS detekcí a GC/HRMS. Získané výsledné hodnoty z obou metod jsou porovnány mezi sebou a s příslušnou legislativou.

Abstract:

This master thesis deals with determinaniton of 2,2',5,5'-tetrachlorbiphenyl in organic colorants by High Performance Liquid Chromatography with spectrophotometric detection and Gas Chromatography with High-Resolution Mass Spektrometry. In the theoretical part are basic information about Synthesia, a.s. company and organic colorants. Syntheses of specific colorants are mentioned, such as Pigment Red 2, Pigment Red 166 and Pigment Red 214 with respective intermediate and syntheses od dye Acid Black 210 (Korostan black AN). Then attention is paid to polychlorinated biphenyls, their characteristic properties, inadvertent creation, legislative setting of maximum limits in products and determination its content according to the standardized and non-standarrdized methods. At the end of theoretical part is a description of the used instrumentation for HPLC analysis and GC/MS analysis. The experimental part is based on the determination of the content polychlorinated biphenyls 2,2',5,5'-tetrachlorbiphenyl in organic colorants in selected red pigments and black dye by HPC with UV/VIS detection and GC/HRMS. The obtained results from both methods are compared with each other and with relevant legislation.
