Abstract:

Tato studie zkoumala strategický proces řízení a výkon mobilních telekomunikačních nadnárodních korporací působících v Nigérii. Celkovým cílem studie je navrhnout doporučení manažerům MNC působícím v odvětví mobilních telekomunikací v Nigérii o tom, jak řídit a udržovat podnikovou výkonnostní základnu na hodnocení procesu strategického řízení. Zaměření na proces vytváření strategií, implementaci strategií a vyhodnocení strategií u vzorových firem přispívá k získání nových poznatků o vlivu procesu strategického řízení na výkonnost podniku. Empiricky byla studie analyzována pomocí teoretických poznatků z literatury o strategickém managementu, modelu strategického řízení, přístupů, teorie založené na zdrojích s cílem lépe porozumět tomu, jak vnitřní zdroje a schopnosti podniku zlepšují proces tvorby, implementace, hodnocení a výkonnosti strategie. Cíl studie se hodnotí pomocí tří otázek: (1) Jaký je vztah mezi systematickým přístupem k procesu formulace strategie v rámci podnikové výkonnosti? (2) Jaký je vztah mezi systematickým přístupem k procesu implementace strategie v rámci podnikové výkonnosti? (3) Existuje významný a pozitivní vztah mezi systematickým přístupem k procesu hodnocení strategie v rámci výkonnosti podniku a podniku? Výzkum se uskutečnil v jediném průmyslu pomocí kvantitativních metod a průzkumu pro získání informací od zaměstnanců čtyř mobilních telekomunikačních MNC provozujících Nigérii. Zjištění naznačují, že proces strategického řízení má významný a pozitivní dopad na výkon mobilních telekomunikačních zařízení v Nigérii. Kromě toho má systematický přístup k formulaci strategie pozitivní a významný vliv na výkon mobilních telekomunikačních MNC. Specifické faktory formulace strategie (vizi, poslání, strategická analýza) pozitivně souvisejí s výkonem mobilních telekomunikačních firem, zatímco stanovení dlouhodobých cílů má zanedbatelný vztah. Dále zjištění z této studie naznačují, že systematický přístup k implementaci strategie má významný a pozitivní dopad na výkon mobilních telekomunikačních MNC v Nigérii. Dále byly pozitivně ovlivněny výkonnost mobilních telekomunikačních MNC v Nigérii specifické faktory implementace strategie (organizační politika, finanční zdroje, angažovanost zaměstnanců při implementaci strategie, organizační struktura a lidské zdroje). Podobně výsledek ukázal, že systematický přístup k hodnocení strategií má významný dopad na výkon mobilních telekomunikačních MNC. Tato studie přispívá k dosavadní literatuře tím, že poskytuje zkušenosti s vícerozměrným charakterem konstrukcí strategického řídícího procesu (strategické formulace a implementace) v MNC působící v mobilním telekomunikačním sektoru na rozvíjejícím se trhu (Nigérie). Výsledky disertační práce jsou využitelné v praxi a dají se také využít ve výuce předmětu strategický management.

Abstract:

This study examined strategic management process and performance of mobile telecommunication multinational corporations operating in Nigeria. The overall objective of the study is to propose recommendations to managers of MNCs operating in the mobile telecommunication sector in Nigeria on how to manage and sustain business performance base on the evaluation of strategic management process. The focus on sample firms’ process of strategy formulation, strategy implementation and strategy evaluation, helps to bring about new insights on the effect of strategic management process on business performance. Empirically, the study was analysed using theoretical insights from strategic management literature, strategic management model, approaches, resource-based theory to better understand how internal resources and capabilities of a firm enhance the process of strategy formulation, implementation, evaluation and business performance. The objective of the study is assessed using three questions: (1) What is the relationship between systematic approach to strategy formulation process within a company and business performance? (2) What is the relationship between systematic approach to strategy implementation process within a company and business performance? (3) Is there a significant and positive relationship between systematic approach to strategy evaluation process within a company and business performance? The research was done in a single industry, using quantitative methods and survey to obtain information from employees of four mobile telecommunication MNCs operating in Nigeria. The findings suggest that strategic management process has significant and positive impact on the mobile telecommunication MNCs performance in Nigeria. In addition, systematic approach to strategy formulation has positive and significant effect on mobile telecommunication MNCs performance. Strategy formulation specific factors (vision. mission, strategic analysis) were positively related to mobile telecommunication firms’ performance, whereas establishing long-term objectives has an insignificant relationship. Furthermore, the findings from this study suggests that systematic approach to strategy implementation has significant and positive impact on the performance of mobile telecommunication MNCs in Nigeria. Additionally, strategy implementation specific factors (organisational policy, financial resources, employee commitment to strategy implementation, organisational structure and human resources) were positively related to the performance of mobile telecommunication MNCs in Nigeria. Similarly, the result showed that a systematic approach to strategy evaluation has significant impact on performance of mobile telecommunication MNCs. This study contributes to the existing literature by providing experience on the multidimensional nature of strategic management process constructs (strategic formulation and implementation) in MNCs operating in the mobile telecommunication sector in an emerging market (Nigeria). The results of the dissertation are useful in practice and can also be used to teach strategic management.
