Occupational Stress and its Impact on the Pre-hospital Emergency Care Workers' Health

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá dopadem profesionálního stresu na zdraví pracovníků v přednemocniční péči. V úvodu teoretické části se zabývám obecnými informacemi o systému fungování Zdravotnické záchranné služby, vlivu stresu na zdraví člověka, následuje management zvládání stresu pomocí několika metod. Poslední část je věnována syndromu vyhoření a jeho vlivu na zdraví. Cílem praktické části byla objektivizace expozice profesionálního stresu u nelékařských zdravotnických pracovníků zdravotnických záchranných služeb. Jedním z dílčích cílů bylo zmapování působení stresových faktorů v době pandemie COVID-19 oproti běžnému pracovnímu režimu. Pro výzkum byl použit dobrovolný anonymní nestandardizovaný dotazník, který byl poskytnut nelékařskému personálu záchranných služeb. První část dotazníku zjišťovala obecné informace o respondentech, jako například pohlaví, věk, délka praxe nebo vzdělání. Další část pojednávala o motivaci pracovat u záchranné služby, spokojenosti respondentů s profesí a především jejich subjektivní pohled na dopad profese na jejich zdraví. V předposlední části dotazníku jsem se věnovala tématu pandemie COVID-19 a jejího dopadu na respondenty. Poslední část výzkumu zahrnuje zapojení zaměstnavatele na prevenci stresu a možnostech odborné pomoci při stresových situacích. Dohromady byly sesbírány odpovědi od celkového počtu 120 respondentů. Pro ověření šesti výzkumných hypotéz jsem se rozhodla použít test nezávislosti (chí kvadrát). V závěru práce jsou tedy vyhodnoceny stanovené teoretické hypotézy.

Abstract:

The diploma deals with the impact of occupational stress on the health of pre-hospital care workers. In the beginning of the theoretical part I deal with general information about the system of functioning of the Health Emergency Service, the impact of stress on human health, followed by the management of stress management using several methods. The last part is devoted to burnout syndrome and its impact on health. The aim of the practical part was to objectify the exposure to professional stress in non-medical health workers of the Health Emergency Services. One of the sub-objectives was to map the exposure to stress factors during the COVID-19 pandemic in comparison with the normal working regime. A voluntary anonymous non-standardized questionnaire was used for the research and was given to non-medical emergency services personnel. The first part of the questionnaire sought general information about the respondents, such as gender, age, length of experience or education. The next part dealt with the respondents' motivation to work in the emergency services, their satisfaction with the profession and, above all, their subjective view of the impact of the profession on their health. In the penultimate section of the questionnaire, I addressed the topic of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the respondents. The last part of the research includes the employer's involvement in stress prevention and the possibilities of professional help in stressful situations. In total, responses were collected from a total of 120 respondents. To test the six research hypotheses, I decided to use the independence test (chi-square). Thus, the theoretical hypotheses established are evaluated at the end of the thesis.
