Comparison of national brownfield regeneration strategy in Europe

Abstract:

Práce se zaměřuje na brownfieldy v evropském prostředí. Opuštěné a nevyužívané oblasti se staly prioritním tématem v oblasti politiky regionálního rozvoje v zemích Evropské unie. Pro každou zemi je důležité mít nastavená pravidla a strategii, jež by byla efektivní. Jako pomoc mohou fungovat vhodné nástroje z jiných zemí, proto je cílem diplomové práce zjistit, zda v evropském prostoru existují země, které mohou posloužit jako vhodný příklad pro nastavení efektivní strategie. Na základě komparace jednotlivých strategií jsou státy kategorizovány a prostorově seskupovány dle jejich přístupu k revitalizaci. Pro každý přístup je vybrán stát s inspirativní strategií a detailněji popsáno fungování revitalizace v třech případových studiích – Anglie, Polska a Švédska.

Abstract:

This Master´s thesis focuses on brownfields in Europe. Abandoned and unused land has become one of the key topics in regional development policy of the EU countries. It is essential that each country has its own set rules and strategy which work. However, appropriate measures taken over from other countries can also be implemented and be beneficial, therefore this thesis aims at finding out whether there are European countries that can serve as a model example for devising an effective strategy for achieving this goal. Various strategies are compared and this comparison serves as a basis for putting the respective countries into categories and groups on the basis of their approach to revitalization. To illustrate a particular approach, the countries whose strategies are the most inspiring have been identified and their approach to revitalization described in detail in three case studies concerning England, Poland and Sweden.
