High brow and low brow art in relation to contemporary kitsch with a particular interest in accessibility and photography

Abstract:

Accessibility and audience development are of key importance and in my diploma thesis are examined throughout. The importance and significance of accessibility (art available for masses) are questioned within its context as the relationship between accessibility and conceptualism - investigating the effect this relationship could have upon the perceived decline of "high art". I explore especially the multiple reasons to why low brow craft and kitsch are currently such big trends within contemporary visual culture. Thesis including written defence and examples of practical element of diploma work and images showing examples of work of artists mentioned within the text.
