Challenging life situations of families with children with mental disabilities and their management

Abstract:

Diplomová práce s názvem Náročné životní situace rodin s dětmi s mentálním postižením a jejich zvládání se zaměřuje na cílovou skupinu rodin s dětmi s mentálním postižením. Bude rozdělena klasicky na teoretickou a praktickou část. V teoretické části práce vydefinujeme základní pojmy týkající se dané problematiky - rodina, mentální postižení, dítě s mentálním postižením. Dále se zaměříme na popis náročné životní situace rodiny, na způsoby jejího zvládání, odolnost (resilienci) rodiny a sociální podporu v kontextu sociálních služeb. Praktická část bude zpracována kvalitativní metodologií prostřednictvím analýzy případové studie, pozorováním a polostrukturovanými rozhovory se členy rodiny, zvláště rodičů dětí s mentálním postižením a sourozenců. Cílem práce bude zjistit, jak rodina s dítětem s mentálním postižením zvládá tuto náročnou situaci, kdo ji poskytuje podporu a pomoc.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis entitled Challenging life situations of families with children with mental disabilities and their management focuses on the target group of families with children with mental disabilities. It will be classically divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part of the thesis, we will define the basic concepts related to the given issue - family, mental disability, child with mental disability. Next, we will focus on the description of the family's challenging life situation, ways of managing it, family resilience and social support in the context of social services. The practical part will be processed using qualitative methodology through case study analysis, observation and semi-structured interviews with family members, especially parents of children with mental disabilities and siblings. The aim of the work will be to find out how a family with a mentally disabled child manages this difficult situation, who provides them with support and help.
